Glad you are ok. Driving on gravel is like driving on marbles.

I'm really glad you're basically OK, although the lingering aches and pains will take a while to subside.

You fell victim to what we are all guilty of at one time or another, and that is over confidence and/or inattention. The two worst enemies a bike rider has is himself and the typical motorist who says, "I never saw him".

I've been riding for 44 years and I learned along time ago to treat my next ride as though it's my first. It helps to keep me alert to road conditions and maintain safe distances, even to the point of pulling over and letting the tailgaters go on by.

You'll get back on and be more attentive as you ride now. Just don't get too comfortable on the road and take things for granted. Stay alert, drive defensively, and enjoy the ride!

Feel better soon!

Holy crap man, glad you're ok. I had a similar incident last year. I still ride scared. It takes a lot to regain that confidence. Good news is I'm almost there.

I fell victim to a smashed Pop can on a right turn last year.. 3 days after I got my new bags. luckily I was leaving a stop sign and the bike just fell out from under me and left me standing straddling the bike. I am definitely more careful through turns now.. I was lucky but, more embarrassed than anything. Sorry to hear your story but glad to see you didn't get too hurt.

Glad you are mostly ok. Around here in OH, the roads hava a lot of sand, gravel and leftover salt this time of year, so we have to watch out for every curve. The worst areas are the country raods, where the county puts down pulverized limestone at the intersections to provide better traction for the cagers. Really sucks for the bikes until some good spring storms wash it away.
drive safe.

Thanks all for the nice comments-I've got an appointment today with a sports medicine surgeon to examine my shoulder.

You how they say "slow, look, press, roll? I kind of blew off the first two steps. My head was in the clouds, I was feeling good (overconfident) and just basically daydreaming. My bad.

Generally, after you hit the ground one good time in an accident that is your fault, you won't have another one again unless someone else is to blame. Sometimes it takes some hands-on experience to learn that crashing sucks.
