I have a 2006 XL1200C. I was just woundering if how could i tell if it has been re-jetted or has stage 1? It is suppose to have slip on exhaust already added. I was told they do not have a stage 1 kit for an 06' model is this true? What kind of air filter is the best to run? Also when i get on the gas in high gear it sounds like i have a cladder noise ? Thank you Greg
Stage 1 is available for 06's. It consists of exhaust, high flow air filter and rejet. The easiest way to tell if it has a complete stage 1 is to pull the breather and backplate off and look to see if the tamper caps have been removed from the jets. As for air filter, if you just want a filter and not a whole new air intake system the screaming eagle or K&N work well. If your ham can air cleaner still has the snorkel on the front then it has not been upgraded. As for the noise I need a better description, sportsters make more noise normally than the big twins do.
Hey melancon2008
I thought I would like to let you know that SE does make a stage1 aircleaner for this bike. I have the same bike and I was just looking at buying one with my slipons on Friday. Do what Flatlander said to see what you have on it already. The least you can do is have a local dealer look at it and I am sure they could tell you what you have. But maybe not what has been done inside the carb. But they could tell you what is the obvious.
Thanks Guy's . I appreciate the info. It's pretty good to be able to find out things from people that know alot about these bikes. I just bought my first bike so i am still learning.
