forward controls for a 77

i have a 77 with forward controls on it now, but because i was born too close to the ground (short@ss) i really have to stretch my legs to work them. the original positon is way too uncomfortable as well. does anyone know of a mid-control that can be bought? or maybe give me an idea how i can make a set? i am thinking about foot rests and going to a heel-toe shifter.

any thoughts, ideas, or direction?
