Howdy everyone. Man - its been forever since i've been at a computer haha or riding bikes. ANYWAY a while back I asked some people about frames and what was the best frame for the money and I appreciate everyones help with me. Well i finally figured i would go with flyrite since they seem to be the most reasonable - if someone has somewhere else i should go please let me know. If i could - could you all help me with me on this purchase. I have a 1999 Sportster 1200 XLH. I love my bike i really do i know some people say OHH its just a sportster blah blah blah.. yea? Well its MY sportster and i like it more than other ones ive ridden - except the Night train.. wow.. what a sexy bike. Sorry vering off of subject.
looks like what i want. I want the bobber style frame but yet the modern chopper look - kind of. It has the swingarm on it and looks like it should all mount up. The things i need help with is is this a bolt on frame? What does "excludes" the rubber mount mean? And also will this fit my tire? My stock tire that is theres nothing changed with my back tire.. i mean my rims will be ugly with this frame.. but you have to do one step at a time. Thanks for all the feedback and help i really appreciate it. This is my first time i've ever done this sort of thing - i have a guy wiring it that actually does it as a side job and i would ask him these questions but he seems to never be around when i need to ask him these things. Thanks again everyone!!
Flyrite makes nice frames...I'd also recommend Ledsled or kansas kustoms.
I'm going with either a Flyrite or a Ledsled myself.
Rubbermount means newer than 04, I believe, not 100% on the Flyrites but Ledsled's are direct fit for your stock motor/trans mounts minus your oil tank/battery tray, and yes, your stock tires/wheels will fit but you'll need to contact them and let them know what size you're using to ensure they set the rear end up right.
If I was you I'd drop the coin for the "Smokin' Gun" Rolling chassis. It will take alot of the guesswork out of your build. Plus having the Springer front end is a really nice bonus.
I know it's more expensive but in the end would be a better buy.
"Excludes Rubber the mount" means you cannot use this engine with an '04 and newer drivetrain. Since you have a '99 you need not worry about this.
I see you are under the impression this set up has a swingarm but you may want to look closer as it's actually a Hardtail set up. There is no swingarm or rear suspension of any kind.
All in all it looks like a cool set up. I have saved it into my "favorites" for future reference.
