Default V&H Short Shots vs Slip Ons

I'm not really looking to gain power, but I would like to make more noise going down the road. Would the V&H Short Shots add more power than a set of slip ons? Or any other suggestions?

The short shots will give you the noise you are looking for. I did not notice a gain or loss of power when switching from SEII to the V&H.

I don't have slip on's. Mine are V&H full set. You can hear them coiming up and down the road with no problems. Don't know what style I have though.

The V&H slip-ons will give you the sweet loud sound that you are looking for. What is interesting is the slip ons actually make the same power compared to the short shots, when done in conjunction with a fuel management module like a fuelpak, SERT, PC III or whatever. You won't go wrong with either one, it will be just a matter of style which of the two you choose from.

Slip-ons are loud as *****. A buddy of mine was following me and couldn't hear his own bike over mine. The only downside is that they sound tinny and high pitched. Put a set of Quiet Baffles in them and they're nearly as loud but deep and rumbly. To me, THAT is the Harley sound! My guess is that slip-ons and baffles would be cheaper than a full set of pipes, as long as you're good with the look.

This is all good to know. I had a 1200L last year but it was too much for me and it got to a point where I was too scared to ride anymore. Little ove a month ago we bought a Buell Blast and I've been riding that getting back into riding and getting my confidence back up again. Bought the 883L on Friday and now I'm just waiting for it to come in. I don't want too much more power but I do want to be heard.
