Hey sportster guys, gotta question i think you guys can help me with. I have an 06 SuperGlide that has the speedo on the handlebar clamp above the bars (not liking the look.) I thought about going with a set of sportster risers like those pictured. 1) is that the light bar (neutral, blinkers, etc.) above the bars and would my light bar fit in there? 2) i've seen a speedo bracket that goes under the bars (i.e. between the bar clamp and the tank) where can i find one? and 3) is there a speedo/tach dual bracket that fits in the same place and where can i finde one? Also, if any of you know would this whole setup with the speedo or speedo and tach fit on my bike that is without it rubbing where the fill cap is.
Are you keeping your stock bars? If you go with something like apes it's not gonna look too good. Took mine off when I put the apes on, and it's ready to ship if you need it.
I'm adding a tackymeter to my '07XLC right now as we speak.........
I suggest you get/download the 2008 HD accessory catalog like I did......then read it closely-especially the multi-fit section.....Then try to sight bikes that sport both tach and speedo with different bar/riser combinations.
You will find the accessory cat offers several solutions, but you will also discover a few not listed that only require you to be a little creative to make them work......The acc cat will list all combos that basically bolt on and plug in......But there are many that you can achieve if you venture a little beyond basic bolt on and plug in.
I got lucky in that HD offered a tach that came suppled with wiring and a mounting bracket that was a simple bolt on and plug in, but I also discovered there were many other possibe configurations I could have elected if I needed to swap risers to gain a different look or adapt to different bars or tank.
The one he has pictured looks like the one from pre 04 customs, the straight riser. If you look at the HD emblem on the newer custom risers it's closer to the bottom because of the curve, on the one he pictured it appears to be more centered.
