Air Cleaner cover??

Rather than spending more money and replacing my Air cleaner cover with a black one I was thinking of hitting it with some black High temp engine paint. Should work just fine right?

You might want to prep it a little first. I'm no paint pro but that doesn't look like bare metal you'll be spraying on. I have heard that a good paint job is all in the prep work.

I painted mine but I sprayed alittle primer first. I did not sand it down to bare metal because I wanted the texture that it had. I haven't had any problems yet and it has been almost a year.

Just scuff it with a scotch brite pad, clean off all residue w/ rubbing alcohol, prime, and paint. I don't know if it matters a whole lot but I make it a practice to not mix paint brands either. If I start w/ PPG, then I finish w/ PPG and not with DuPont. I am not knocking DuPont...it was just to illustrate my point.
