Congrats on the new bike. I also highly recommend the MSF course. I know that you are going to love the 1200L. I know that I do. Have fun and ride safe.
Welcome from Western Washington, and Congrats! on the New Bike, I have to agree about the MSF course. \\; I bought my first ever bike last April, took the course and now I ride every chance I get as evidenced by my odomoter....
I live off towerline road and we went to the parking lot over there by where the old mall used to by...back behind Hibbet Sports...I am signed up for the MSF class on Aug 22nd...I am going to call them to see if there is anyway to get in there quicker...I really dont want to take the test at the DMV...lol
 \\;
Pick the time slot you want, show up 30 minutes early, they FREQUENTLY take stand by riders. \\; Someone that has signed up, doesn't show, you slide into their slot. \\; You may only have to show up early once or twice and you're in, well before aug 22.

Welcome aboard from Oregon Might I recommend a book you might enjoy? It's called Proficient Motorcycling, and I've learned a great deal from it. +1 on the MSF course too. The first ride of many to come!
