I PUT A STANDARD WINSHIELD ON MY 07 SPORTSTER, "A QUICK RELEASE" AND HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT POSITIONS BUT STILL HAVE TURBULENCE AROUND MY HEAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I USE MY BIKE FOR HIGHWAY AND NEED TO GET RID OF THE WIND. ANY SUGGESTIONS. LOOKED FOR A FARING BUT CANT FIND ONE
Most likely, the turbulance is coming up from the bottom of the shield. Some guys have reported getting rid of it by mounting a tool bag on the forks. Lower deflectors usually stop the turbulance from below on baggers, but I've not seen anything like that for Sportsters. Might check w/ the dealer and see if the chrome lower deflectors from a Heritage Softail will work on it.
If you have an Engine Guard try those covers that keep out the rain and wind. \\; I got mine from EBay for like 50.00

Just like this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-H...QQcmdZViewItem
They work really well.
If you're wearing a helmet with a visor, take the visor off. \\; It worked for me as well as a few others here. \\; If that isn't the case and you want to spent $1400 on a bat wing then check out corbin's web site. \\; They offer fork mounted fairings.
I have the same problem. \\; I sit pretty high in the saddle. \\; You'll get accustomed to the wind hitting you right in the eyes. \\; The best thing is it's the quick detach, so you can quickly take that stupid thing off once you get to your destination.
The windshield is not going to stop all the wind. I have the same setup, and travel 60 miles each way to work.
It doesn't bother me at all, unless there are 30-40 mph winds along with the travel winds.
try wearing something under your helmet, The same thing happened to me and I tried wearing a headband under my helmet and it worked. It also kept the glasses tighter on my head so they didn't move around either.

I travel 70 miles a day on I-10 to work at about 70-80mph without a windshield at all and a half helmet. \\; It takes some gettin' used to, but I wouldn't have it any other way. \\; If highway speeds are too much for you, check to see if you can take an alternate route on side streets. \\; May take you longer, but at least you \\;will be more comfortable. \\;
I have the same issue. \\; Another rider told me to get a lower fork kit. \\; I'm not sure if it attached to the forks or the bottom of the windshield. \\; Try your dealer.
