lurks everywhere. Picked up a job to Camp Hill, Pa. yesterday afternoon. Great ride, all is good. Clear the job, call dispatch and they say get over to Kost Rd. IBM warehouse (near Carlisle Pa.) pronto\\; been busy with work back to Va. all day. I'm there about 45 min. and the call comes...something coming back to within 15 miles of my house. Pull around to the shipping area. Tractor trailer on my left waiting for a dock to clear. I start to go past him to swing into parking space. What's that....no ,no, no,...hes moving. He's turning hard right across my path and the trailer is swinging right toward me. No place to go...where's reverse when ya need it, lol. I'm hollering but he can't hear. Had to lay her down, hit kill switch in process. Went down gentle, hollering at this guy the whole time. Trailer is aiming right for my bike as I scramble away. I mean, his rear wheels are gonna crush her. Security guards catch on to what's happening \\; and mercifully, it comes to a halt. Whew! Left leg cut and bruised, but not too bad (long pants, long socks and over the ankle boots...never leave home without em!). \\; No fluids spilled, brake lever a little scratched, right mirror knocked loose (tightened up fine) and vertical support for windsceen slightly bent...easy to fix on workbench with a block of wood and a hammer. \\; Anyway, he had to back up so we could get her back on 2 wheels and the jiffy stand. I'm shaking like a leaf and sweating bullets. 3 of us get her up , I look her over and fire her up...ride around the lot to make sure all is good (yes), look up and thank the Lord. A bit sore today but glad it worked out ok. The truck driver felt really bad, he has a Dyna low rider. I was in his blind spot, so he never saw me and he was profusely apologetic. Anywho, let this be a lesson to everyone out there...be totally aware wherever you are, especially parking lots and industrial areas and for crying out loud, wear the proper gear.
