I know I've been complaining for the last four months, but it FINALLY arrived. No, not the bike; it's been here for those four long winter months. Spring!! And about time -- 80 degrees! I got to take her on a real ride today -- highways, back roads, twisties, etc. Do I need all the power and torque of a 1200? No. Do I like it? Oh my, yes! Windy as stink, and I wondered about the effect of driving out from behind tree rows into open field areas, especially after reading about solid rear wheels in the wind. Rode all four points of the compass in 30-40 mph wind and she was rock solid; no drift, nuthin'. Doing 65-70 into a 35 mph headwind is envigorating. I wore my shorty helmet and I think I'm now deaf from wind noise. But it was GREAT!! Made a deal with the weather man to send any more winter north to New York, where the snow plow guys need the work.
I love those first rides of the year, they're always the best! I had my first ride into work the other day, and slowly cruising through traffic has never been more enjoyable...
Spring ridin' is the best, ain't it? I mean, any season is great - but if you had to wait so long before gettin' back on, it just makes everything sweeter...
