I just ordered a pair of Hooker Troublemaker Darksides for my Nightster. Is the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak the way to go for remapping? I heard that the fuel pak only works well with Vance & Hines exhaust systems. I will be putting on the SE Heavy Breather at the same time.
the fuelpak is a fuel management system. If you want the bike re-mapped, you can take it to the dealer. Most on here prefer the PCIII instead of the fuelpak. If you just get it re-mapped by the dealer, it will be fine, its just that you wont be able to play around with any settings like you would with a PC or fuelpak.
The FuelPak is a good item and alot of people on here are pleased with them. However if you plan to do more work or would like to be able to get the most out of the bike, a Screamin Eagle race tuner, Thundermax, or Power Commander, etc.. is probably the way to go...
don't waste your money on a remap from the dealer
they are designed for the harley slipons.
I was thinking something the same thing. With the prices I normally see at the dealer, it would probably end up being more expensive than the PCIII anyway.
I am really satisfied with my Cobra Fi2000r closed loop digital fuel processor.
I was not impressed with the fuel pack or the power commander. The power commander may work great if the bike is dyno tuned.
With the Cobra Fi2000r is is constantly monitoring the air/fuel ratio from the o2 sensors (when the o2 sensors are in use (closed loop mode) I have eliminated the decel popping, hesistation and porr gas mileage. Simple install, took me 30 minutes. Retails for around $260.

I'm seeing mixed reviews about the Cobra, so I just went ahead and ordered the PC3. Thanks for the info.
Did you get the PCIII from Jamie at FM? If so, his map is AWESOME. Remember to reset the Closed Throttle Position when you get it. 1st do the install, then run it around until is is FULLY warm, then reset the Closed Throttle position. This will help with popping on Decel. Won't stop it altogether, but it will be much improved.
