Well I ran seafoam in my fuel and oil today. Bike is running a lot better now. It had a few hickups and first but it was more like it was passing something thru rather than loosing power. I was just cruising on back roads so I will let you guys know after this weekend how it does on the highway.
I checked my spark plug wire as well since when I replaced them I had a hard time getting them on. The one had corrosion in it. Do you guys have any tricks or tips on how to get the plugs on the coil side? my hands are too big and it's just a pain in the ***!
So I went out for a ride this evening and it cut out again. It just flat out stopped. Took me 5 min to get it to start again. I'm thinking it may be electrical. Any thoughts?
i had a similar problem - turned out to be the positive battery cable - found out when i pulled the battery and the cable part pulled out of the connector to the starter
Do not use the choke to warm it up, that's a good way to foul the plugs. Use the choke to get it started, then use the throttle screw to hold the throttle slightly open while the engine warms up. set the screw to just hold the throttle and loose enough so you can back it down as it warms up. if it continues to spit excessively, then maybe the carb needs some work, like either cleaning or some slite jetting.
Zim....You really need to read your manual and learn how to use a choke properly. Just my $0.02 though.
So 2 weeks or so ago I ran seafoam through my bike and my bike ran great. Yesturday my bike started to cut out again today. It was about like how it started the last time and progressivly got worse over time.
What could be causing this? I'm thinking something is getting gunked up in the carb?
