Default Adjusting rear stock shock

Ok, besides the fact that My wife thinks I'm " DYsplEXic ( duh.....) " I look at the rear shocks on My 2006 1200 C and draw blanks.........? I have a Clymer's manual, H-D $10 shock wrench and stock shocks. Last bike started out with number increments, there lies the problem. If I go to the upper notches does it make the ride softer ? Any tips / help ? Bike is running fine for Me 5'5" 185lbs. 1 up almost always , but there is a place for the 115 lb wife on back. Just want to fine tune it a little. Replaced the last ride with Progressive 440 , might go with the 412's on this 1, but in the mean time.........WVleo

If you look at em like steps, the lower down on the step you are the firmer the ride as it compresses the spring on the shock. Hope that made sense.

Leo, when the adjusting ring climbs up toward the spring it stiffens the ride. The high notches are softer. No matter where you set the stockers they're still back breakers. The stockers I had do their best work on a shelf about 20 feet from my bike.

One more thing Leo, that wrench will slip and bust your knuckles big time if you don't hold it onto the shock with your free hand. It slips out of the little notches very easily.

Absolutely, they stamp it out and the little nub that engages the notch in the shock is rounded instead of square. Makes for a hard to use tool.
