People worry about oil temp not jug temp, conventional motor oil starts breaking down when it hits 250f. Combustion temp can reach 1500f easily but nothing to worry about.

You should be OK BUT, the temps most of the above posts refer to is the Oil Temp. This is not the same as the head temp. which will be higher. The temp your powder coat will be exposed to is the cylinder head Temp.

I haven't done it, but the response you need here is from someone who has read their head temps with a IR gun/meter when the motor is at it's hottest point.

Thanks cHarley, the only parts that are going to be red are the pushrods and the middle piece of the rockerboxes, along with the chain adj. door, and the clutch adj. door, might do the heads of the screws in red too, haven't decided yet. Oh and the timing cover is gonna be red too, everything else either flat black or wrinkle black.
