Question Engine temp too low, running issue

My Streetbob ran like crap last saturday, the engine temp read 82f all the time no increment. No hesitation or misfiring but didn't run right, hard to explain. When I shut off the motor, it takes forever to start. I bet the ecu read low temp and kept dumping fuel. I took it for another hour ride, the temp read normal at 235f once a sudden, everything was fine since then. Should I expect a bad engine temp sensor? My question is, the sensor is located at the front cylinder, if the front cylinder is not firing, is the temp gonna stay that low at 82f? Thanks Alex

not real sure it works, but I have read that you can let it run and spritz some water on the pipe to see if it sizzles when it hits the pipe.

seems to me a sensor issue.... damn hard to believe even on one cylinder it would only be 82f ...

hot tap water is 120f

In my experience, a running motor would never be as cool as 82f, even if the cylinder wasn't firing. I'd bet on the sensor.

It might be worth just having a look at the sensor connector and make sure its in tight and that water hasn't got in there. Its just behind the horn, bolted into the front cylinder. WD40 in there might be an idea.

Thanks guys! The sensor is $30 not too bad. Yes, I will check the connection, that could be the problem. So random, it only happened once recently.
