Looks good Willie D., is the seat much more comfortable than stock?
YES, it is a great addition to the already cool ride. It gives you a bit more room to move around and it also let's you sit back about 3/4" to 1" . . . might not sound like much, but a big difference.
Stock are 11" on the "N" and from first hand experisence having run 11" and 11.5 (heavyduty & std.) over the last 24k miles the 412s in short lengths are a marginal improvement over stock at best. Ya gotta sacrifice looks and low to get a decent ride. The std. spring for occassional 2up and those under 225lbs. is all thats needed but you still only get a shock with (underload) only about 1.5" of travel if that and your ground clearance is still a compromise. If you ride with all that in mind then the short 412s are a good bang for the buck. If you want better cornering and a little more travel then 12", if you want better spring rate (std. spring rate 75-120 vs 90-130) and more travel opt. for the 12.5.
Eventually I may move to 12.5" myself but for now enjoy the low look just not the scraping and harsh ride (the spring rate also fades over time and I've noticed it on my 11.5" over the last 15k miles and have to increase preload to compensate).

wow thanks man for all the info. i think i'm gonna go with the 11" size, even if it's marginally better than stock, it's an upgrade not to mention they look sweet on the nightster. I found them for 197$ on line, thought that was a good price after seeing them everywhere else for 250 and up. thanks again cap!
