Garbage picking
My neighbor was getting new carpet put in his house so I took a piece of carpet he tossed out and put it on my garage floor to park my bike on. I read that its good to keep it off the cold cement during the winter months is that true?

No shame in dumpster diving. The carpet may help keep moisture from coming through the concrete. If nothing else, it's nice to have under your feet while having a beer and admiring your bike.

Nothing wrong with that, when I was a youngin' my first two places were furnished by dumpster diving. You know what they say, One man's junk is another man's treasure. It doesn't get cold enough here to worry about the frost line etc.
