If it seems like the same noise you had before and your decelerating by down shifting, it could be the same problem, try slowing without downshifting or pull the clutch in when you hear the noise and see if it goes away, it could be the motors moving. If it sounds like a hammer inside the case, that's different.

That's weird, molsenice. Might it be a loose baffle in the muffler?

Maybe a loose/broken motor mount?

I've been lookin - before it was without a doubt the front exhaust tapping the lower part of the rear brake pedal - feels like the same tapping shudder but now it seems more pronounced and there is no tapping - going to keep looking

My sons was doing something similar to this on his XL1200C after he installed the V&H Straighshots he just had to reposition the pipe some and it cured it. I think his problem was more with using the rear brake he would feel the pedal hit the heat sheild.

had a similar thing on my bike and it turned out to be the horn the 2 screws were out and the horn was loose so at differant speeds and wind conditions it was vibrating and made all kids of bad noises found that out washing it for the first time since i bought it 6 months ago they had it detailed i think any way look and see if the horn is loose That might be the reason the guy was selling it
