If you're very careful, you'll be able to reuse the little round gaskets that go between the cross over tube and the muffler. Otherwise, a trip to the dealer will be necessary.
Good luck! I'm sure the improved sound will make you smile.

I was under the assumption that new gaskets came with the slipons. Is that not normally the case?
I just installed the same pipes, they sound great! took me about an hour or so to put them on, (most of the work was finding the tools) the gaskets will have to be re-used because they don't ship them. i found them easy to get out as long as you don't pull it out by its wire-mesh section. just take a screwdriver and pop at the deepest part of the gasket and you'll be fine.
Damn, ya really shoulda dumpstered the entire goofy stock set-up for ShortShots!
eh, thought about it. Just decided that wasnt the look I was going for. Like yours though. Not sure how you paid 1400 for those bags, but hey when you're made of money.....
Bought it used last month ('06 883L 2500 miles) for $4900with the bags, forwards, factory alarm, detach windshield, engine guard & custom paint! Added exhaust, air/jet kit, flush mount cap, laydown plate, mini-boards & shift peg. How's that for a low budget chick-bagger?
Today I ordered my new vh straight shot slipons, which I've been trying to decide on for about 3 months.
I'll be installing them myself, which I hear is pretty simple, so if anyone has any tips or tricks for me, they will be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks,
Chad
I recently got these pipes for my '05 1200. I can't give any tips on installation because I had someone do it for me. ( But it didn't take him long and I didn't hear any swearing.)
I ordered the quiet baffles with mine and it's still plenty loud. Low rumble at idle and cruise through town yet they 'bark' when asked.
CDAXJ - get the quiet baffles and install them BEFORE you put the pipes on. In my opinion, you'll like the deeper sound even better. I put them on a day after doing the install and it's a bit more of a problem getting the old one's out as they're long and hard to just pull straight out.

Thanks but I'm gonna have to hear the regular baffles first, even if it is harder to change later. I actually want loud.
