The rear cylinder gasket leaked last summer at about 10,000 miles. Dealer fixed it under warranty. I asked them to replace the gaskets on the front cylinder while they were at it...they refused, saying that Harley wouldn't pay for it if it wasn't leaking. As you've probably guessed by now, the front started to leak about two weeks ago with a bit over 14,000 miles. So now MoCo has to pay to do the whole works over again, when they could have saved some bux when the bike was apart last summer. Of course the dealer doesn't care, they get the extra work.
Look at the OP's picture....The two shiney pieces of metal at the very top of each cylinder are the rocker boxes. For some reason I just noticed that the newer rocker boxes are different, as mine are three piece boxes with four gaskets & the newer ones are only two peices....Never really paid attention to that before.
ok i will post this again in a thread askin for it, would be easier to find if it was made into a sticky, seems like it might be usfull for ppl lookin for this type of prblem...check out this thread i made man, should help you out
I'm having the same issue, and actually just made a new thread about it. I'm supposed to take the bike in tomorrow and am worried about the dealer honoring the warranty because I've replaced mufflers but not the complete stage one upgrade (no a/c or download). Think they'll try and diss me over this? (I have the extended warranty).
