Has anyone tried to move the speedo on an 883L to below the bars? If so, how did you do it? I would like to move mine below the stock bars but am unsure if or how it can be done.
You buy the older style XL/Dyna single guage bracket along with a few HD parts to convert the indicator lights to the old style and bolt it to your tree. If you have a headlight visor then just raise it up using extension sockets as spacers. Total investment will run ya around $30-40 for the bracket and parts and then you can run whatever risers you want.
I guess I wasn't clear. I want to go low on the tank side. Guessing from the replies so far that is not possible without risers or drag bars. Am I correct?
If I understand you right (not clear) you want the speedo hanging over the tank vs. in front of the bars. This can be done with a riser setup from the 1200C (6" hgt. with about 2" pullback and you can find them for $100-150 which is what I sold mine for). You can also use other speedo brackets from earlier model years which are a little harder to come by, but with those especially on the 883 peanut tank which sits a little higher the risers will need to be tall enough so that the speedo clears the tank unless your using the eraly model stragith riser/speedom mount setup instead of a bracket mount. Bettter alternative yet except for loosing the diagnostic mode and mileage (which is not overly important) you can purchase a mini speedo from any number of companies and mount it wherever you want however many of those are very $$$.
I have owned many Sportsters over the years and always wanted to relocate the Speedo off the top clamp. I didn't like the idea of removing my Speedo so I have come up with a Speedo Relo Kit that I sell on ebay for $39.99. I only make a few bucks on it but it's great when folks purchase it and email me how much they love the new look. I hope this helps. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...Q5fAccessories
Thanks,
Jacki
