Just this morning I was at an Orange County dealership to take advantage of a parts sale they were having, and the local HOG chapter had gathered for a new member ride. I quickly counted over 60 bikes, and not one Sporty. Everyone was dressed in Moco or attire...I rolled in with my no name beat up leather jacket I wore when I rode a Honda to/from college, old 501s, no name boots, gloves from Target...on a jockey shifted Sporty...I got a few "WTF...??" looks.
While the new members headed off to get a safety briefing, I went inside and picked up a member brochure from the front receptionist thinking, "Okay, okay, maybe I'll give it a try." The receptionist desk is about 10 feet away from the Sporty row (no Irons or XR1200s)...anyway, as one member watched another check out one of the Customs he said, "So, ya thinking of getting a little bike?"
If anyone gives me guff about my bike, I think I'll just toss him my keys and say, "Let's see you ride it."
Personally, I wouldnt even worry about it. Do what ya want...ride what ya want. Keep it within your means and that's all that matters...the bottom line is you out there, being active and still riding....thats all that really matters.
