Default Front Wire Wheel Assembly

I removed my front spoke wheel off my 2005 XL1200C today and noticed that one bearing spacer is considerably thinner than the other - about 1/8 inch vs. 1/2 inch for the larger spacer. Unfortunately, I didn't note which side each spacer came from. I'm assuming the smaller spacer is on the same side as the disc brake and caliper. Is this correct? Also, the larger spacer has three notches on one side. Does this face the wheel or outside. Thanks for your help.

FYI, I removed the wheel to polish the front fork sliders. The job requires considerable patience and sanding to do it right, but the results are very close to the chrome finish of the slider tube. I'll report more on this once finished.

Since I got rid of my 21" wheel, I don't remember which spacer goes on which side, but it's virtually impossible to install them on the wrong side of a 21" wheel. If you get them backwards the disk rotor wont line up with the brake caliper. Note: the spacers are closer to the same size on a 19" wheel.

I turn the spacer notches out, away from the bearing.

The thick spacer is on the caliper side, the thin one goes on the other side.
