Default Pulled the wheels - pics added

Just finished pulling the wheels off my girlfriend's Nightster. Dropped em off at the powdercoaters to get em done in burgundy to match the pin stripe on her tank. PC'ing the rims, spoke nipples, and hubs. Cant wait to get em back!! I might be more excited about it than she is!

What a beat-down THIS turned out to be!! Some of it was my fault, but some not.

Took the wheels, hubs and nipples to the PC'ers. They PC the entire hub. I dont know any better and I'm not thinking ahead so I take em.

Here I am starting to re-lace the rear wheel and 1st off the spoke nipple wont go in the rim holes. No biggie. Easily solved with e dremel tool to knock off the PC. I start relacing the wheel and for those that have never done it, it pretty straight-forward, but its still a whippin! About 2 hrs later I have the rear wheel done.

The front wheel doesnt want to cooperate however and I stop short of throwing it thru the kitchen window out into the yard. We decide Ive had my fun and Susan drops the wheels and rubber at the shop to get the front laced, both trued and balanced and the rubber remounted.

Pick up the wheels and start in on the re-assembly and of course I discover I cant mount the brake disks or the pulley because of the powder coat on the hubs. I manage to scrape off enuf to get em on but still feel a bit uneasy about it not being done right. Im JUST about to put the rear axle on when I find I dont have any anti-seize for the axle. Too late to get any and I'm pissed anyway so I stop.

Call the PC'er in the morning and tell him about the hubs and he admits it was their fault cuz they shoulda masked the hubs. Offers to re-do em but I tell him theyre already mounted. I take em in after work and they get em both cleaned up nicely w/o having to re-do them. Quality Powder Coating in Carrollton TX is good to go!

Pick em up (along with some anti-seize) and get back to work. Mount the disk and pulley and an about to mount the tire when I notice that THE SHOP PUT THE TIRE ON BACKWARDS!! Right side drive on a Sporty, not left side. They KNEW it was a Sportster! Susan drives to the shop with the rear while I mount the front while she's gone.

She gets back and I get the rear mounted w/o any additional hitches.

Take a test drive while the temps are falling into the 30's and everything is good to go.

It looks bad ***! Sorry I dont have a picture yet, but will post one asap. Youre gonna dig it.

Rough. I debated whether to have the local powder coater do my wheels but decided to pay the extra to have hdwheels.com do them. Sent down the stock wheels where they disassembled, powder coated 2 coats (maroon base with flat candy), new nipples, and re-assembled. Cost me $1000 but also gave me piece of mind it was done right.

Look forward to seeing your wheels!
