Recently bought my first Harley. 2009 1200 Custom. I've ridden jap bikes since my first SL-70, nice to finally have some American Iron.
Anyway, I'm a short guy 5'6. I can sit flat footed on my Sportster and reach the pegs and grips. But it feels like a bit of a reach. I've sat on a Low and sitting feels more comfortable but the seat is too friggin hard for my scrawny ***. Is the Reach seat a good choice for me? Or would I be better off sending my seat in to Mean City for adjustments. I like the look of the OEM seat at least for now. But would like a more "natural" feel on the bike.
On the other hand, it is a new bike to me. And I should and do expect a different feel than I have on my Magna.
Sorry for the rambling. It's GREAT to own a HD.
Thanks,
Ron
Here is a thought. Anybody have a Reach seat they want to sell? Maybe a takeoff before trade in.

Reason: Added last line.
personally i like the spring seats but, again it's just an opinion. If you like the Factory seat look. I'm assuming the 2-up, you can always get it padded further at an upholstery shop. But there's always the option of getting a factory nightster seat which what i'm looking at getting myself. But, to each his own. Good luck.
I'm new to HD as well came from japs myself(06 kawasaki ninja zx-6r)... What I've learned thus far, make it how "you" want it. That's my best advice to choose what you would like. I love my bike. Wouldn't trade it for anything. By the way, Welcome!!!

I put a Reach solo seat on my bike and it feels like It might have put me a little closer to the bars but not much. As for comfort it is more softer than the stock seat and is also a little wider but not by much. I would like to change risers and bars so I could ride more upright myself. I'm 5'5" and I feel comfortable on mine but I would like to sit up a little more. I just finished my stage 1 this winter so my plan is to change the riser, bars and cables this coming winter after I decide what I want to put on.
