I didn't touch the primary chain adjustment when i changed the oil. Unless i did somehow without knowing because i don't even know what it is.

It's probably not something you did...it's just something you should do once in a while.

Did you even change the primary fluid when you changed your oil? With 11K on the odo, it's time to to change that fluid & check your primary adjustment.

Edited: the primary adjustment is the nut & bolt (with allen wrench center) that sticks down from the bottom of the motor on your shifter/kickstand side. Turning that bolt would tighten up you primary chain tensioner.

I agree with the others about primary chain adjustment...I had the same noise at one time, and the adjustment took care of it.

I agree that this sounds like a primary chain that is too tight. But that doesn't really make sense. If the primary chain is left alone, it will get loose. To my knowledge it will not get too tight with regular wear. Maybe I'm wrong on that.

Most certainly the primary fluid should be changed on this bike. If I remember correct, the primary fluid should be changed every 5,000 miles on the 2004 models. I suggest Mobil-1 gear oil, 75w 90.

Correct Sportypig, but if you noticed, he stated that he doesn't even know what it is.....And I can see someone trying to do a fix on a bike, and notice that the tension bolt was slightly loose, and tighten it up without knowing what it was.
