I bought an 883R here in the UK a few months ago.
I love it.
It might be the 'smallest' Harley but it goes very well, doesn't ground out on our twisty English roads and I've surprised at least one Jap sports bike rider about how quick it is round the twisty bits.
I hadn't ridden seriously in over twenty years and I've found it a great way to get back on two wheels.
Cheers from the UK.
Andy
That whole "Sportsters are for girls" crap is just that, All performance aside, Sportsters are a classic, been around almost 50 years. If you ask me, any Harley stands for Freedom, Power, Independance and Rebelion. Not male, female or hermi... Show me a chic on a sportster and ill show you one on a Shovel, a Dyna, a Softtail.... Ride what you like, give everyone else the finger that dont like it![>:]
Sure, I've got an FL, and my wife has an XL. But that's a matter of preference in how we like our bikes to handle. I like the low, laid back thing right now, and she likes the quick, nimble thing. She rides mine now and again, and I ride hers, but we prefer our own.
And every now and again, when I get the itch to do some aggressive riding, it sure as hell ain't my bike I hop on. I borrow hers, so I can get some serious lean angles.
a bit off the subject has anyone here thought or has done the buell upgrades to their Sportster? I am thinking of doing it to mine over the winter months.
If anybody does not understand the importance of these bikes to history of Harley, they need to have a history lesson plus this is one cool as hell bike.
It's funny but now that those people actaully saw my sportster (and heard it), they have no doubts that it's a real bike. They were scared to even sit on it. The real funny part, though, is that after riding it, I trully don't care what anyone has to say. Not one bit.

... and what do you tell them if they say it's a girl's bike????
