Well I was off Friday and I decided to pull off the rocker covers and polish the triple trees and levers. Here's some pics...I think I'll continue polishing while the weather sucks. Next in line - the shift and brake levers.
I hate to tell you this but those parts are all clear coated, if you haven't removed it you are just polishing paint. Harley has clear coat there alumi parts for years.

Must've just been on yours My rocker covers, primary and cam cover are chrome but my trees, levers, shifters are raw alum. and polishable. Fork sliders were all that was clearcoated and they pitted uderneath so I stripped and polished them over 2 years ago. I know other models with alum. at least the last few years are not clear coated only the fork sliders.
