1993 1200 sporty was in storage for a year . finally got it back but wont run . I took the carb all apart cleaned it put it back now it starts but wont run . 2 1/2 turns on fuel mixture cleaned all jets . tac now jumps all over the place cant understand it in all the years never had a bit of proublems with the bike now im lost
is it getting fuel? yr diaphram might be pinched at the top of the bowl. also, you can come out another 1/2 to full turn with the mixture screw.
there is a vacum line that fits (at least there is on my 04...might be different) from the petcock to the back of the carb, if thats off it won't run either, might be that simple.
getting fuel vacume is hooked up do you know why the tac would be jumping all over ? It seems to run when the enricher is pulled out but when its in thats when she wants to die . you said diephram . do you think i put the accellerator pump in backwards? idontknow whats going on . thanks for your help
as far as the tach goes, thats a new one, i remember when i had a security system on my scoot one time when i tried messin with the fuel the speedo went wackey, but i was doin more than carb work so.....
sounds like yr deffinetly not gettin enough fuel, if you haven't yet, take yr A/C off so you can see inside yr carb, when you hit the throttle the slide should go up and a squirt of gas should shoot into your carb, see if its doing that. the diaphram is listed in the second link i gave you #8, that link really shows what the parts of the carb are and what they do when you open your throttle.
When it's running with the enricher pulled, does the tach still "jump"? I wonder if you don't simply have some electrical connections corroded. I think you may have more that one problem. The carb still isn't clean enough, pay special attention to the idle circuit (slow jet on that link). Are you using fresh gas or is it the year old stuff? If fresh gas then I'd have to say you really didn't get the carb clean enough. If old gas drain it out and put fresh in and then see what you have.
It doesn't hurt to put an ounce or two of injector cleaner in 2 gal of gas to really get the inside of the carb clean. It just takes longer. I've seen some that started running great after only a few miles and others take the whole tank with the injector cleaner/gas mixture before they settled down. After sitting for only a year I doubt that the carb is that plugged but since it's a 93 I'd bet you have some dirty electrical connection, specifically to the tack or even the ignition switch. My 97 acted up once with the tack and speedometer jumping and I found that I only needed to turn the key fully on. The bike ran but the gauges jumped around.

I'd have to agree with the electrical, if the tach/speedo are jumping around like it's working & the next split second both shut down while at idle but bike is still semi running/sputtering. I'd check all the battery/plug wires/coil/fuse(s)connections for corrosion. Also check the plugs to see if they are carbon'd over or giving a decent spark.

getting new gas is great advice, i didn't even think of that. also, you might wanna instal an inline fuel filter, its really simple and can help block crrap going from the tank to the carb.
