So, how far are people going between fill-ups? Wife has stock tank on her 1999 883.

mine is an 86' 883 with a fatbob tank. 3.5 gallon I think. I get crappy milage. I usually make sure and stop and fill up around 110 miles just to be safe. Not really sure how far I can go but I figured I'm getting about 35 mpg in town and 42 mpg on the highway.

I have the new larger tank size and I have run out of gas and had to hit the reserve at 140 miles. I usually let the bike warm up for 5 min before leaving and my fat *** definately doesn't help gas milage.

Range really depends on whether you are all on the highway or in town. On the highway, you could usually get about 120 miles before switching to reserve. In town, it would be more like 100. When I had my Sportster, I reset the trip meter and filled up every 100 miles, whether in town or on the highway. However, it is a good idea to run the bike in the reserve position for 20 - 30 miles after you fill up every other tank or so. This keeps the demons of gasoline from building up in the bottom of your tank.
