I'm not really an internet guy but its good to see others talking about their sporties so i figured i'd offer up my experience also. Bone stock on my 2004 i could hit 105 comfortably hold 90(i'm 6' 195lbs) with an air cleaner upgrade and k and n filter plus Hellbent pipes and a carb rejet i could hit 115 however after the upgrades i put a fat boy tank and night train front end and rear tire with 18 inch apes so holding steady at that speed aint easy. Now i have since put the 1250 big bore kit in with Buell heads i have yet to upgrade the cam or the ignition coil that is my venture for this winter. I don't even try to max her out now with my riding posistion but i'm willing to bet her top speed would be 120-130 +. I believe to be pushing around 75 or more horses.

Without an ignition change, sprocket or wheel change to change gearing, the absolute top speed on a 2004 883 is 110 mph. That is 6200 rpm where the rev limiter shuts her down.
With your 1250 upgrade you may get close to 120.
Remember, speedos characteristically have a 6-8 % error, registering higher than actual.
I've got the nighttrains rear set up. And I have alot more work to do after the heads cam and jugs but I don't know why I'm doing it because I can't hold that speed with the current riding set up
My 883 with Stage 1 conversion would hit the Rev limiter at 114 according to the Speedo.
Since I haven't changed the gearing, or electronics it would still hit the Rev limiter at 114 with the 1250 engine. But, it will get there a LOT quicker.
108 MPH on my '04 while going from Sedona to PHX yesterday...shocked the hell out of a pack of BTs I flew past on the southbound 17...this was with my fully stuffed T-bag occupying the passenger seat, another T-bag strapped to the handlebars and a bazillion bugs stuck to her.
I was clocked by the cops going 110 mph on my 04, 883 sporty. Just sayin!
Been to 115 mph on my 08 883. Power Commander III, V&H shortshots and SE intake. Wouldn't want to go much faster.
sorry the 883 are geared for top speed of 104.a 1200 is geared for 118mph. A stage 1 does not change gearing it changes power band, so you feel the power in low end to mid range so it is quicker.changing sprokets will change the gearing ratio.
the revlimiter protects the engine because the engine can outperform the gearing.
speedos are off above speeds of 80mph. Yamahas are the worst sometimes being 30mph off.
