Running without the speedo?
Got to tear the 06 1200c down this weekend to find a short. Thinking of picking up a standard set of risers and running them just to see how I like the look. Any problems other than not knowing my speed? I am not going to hook up the speedo in a month or two and get some damn error code instead of mileage because the mileage on the speedo and some unknown computer mileage on the bike don't match am I?

Check your local and state laws. Not sure about any error codes, that's a great question.
I put a $10 bicycle speedo on a sport bike I had a while back, calibrated it in with the OEM speedo and it stayed pretty accurate.
