Thanks, oberkfell. I just want to make sure the bike is going to be happy even it isn't being ridden all out. I'm looking for more of an all 'rounder.

I'm looking for my first bike and I'm interested in the XR1200. The bike was comfortable for me in the showroom (6'3" 230 lbs), but I haven't ridden it. I liked the standard-esque seating position.

A lot of the reviews I've read say it's not a full-on sports bike, which is good for me, as I don't have any desire to ride something like a Ninja or R1.

I know the XR1200 is the sportiest Sporster, but is it too much for a first timer? Will it be happy to ride at my non-limit-pushing pace or is it always waiting to unleash (ala Hayabusa or the like)? I'm looking for this -> , not this ->
I am 6'4" and fit fine. I would not have picked this bike, Harley or not, if the fit were not excellent. The more upright (former FZ6 rider) position with the pegs under your trunk make for great ergonomics for me.

It has gobs of torque compared to most any crotchrocket so you can ride around below 3000 RPM if you want all day. Did I read somewhere that this bike makes more HP (90) than anyother aircooled Harley?

I traded an 08 Roadster for mine. I like the footpeg position of the XR better. Mine is just fine tooling around and commuting where I don't get it over 3500 rpm. It's one of the best all-rounders I've had. It handles much better and has far better brakes than the Roadster I traded.

Sounds like what I'm after, dstockton. Of course, nothing like actually riding it to be sure.

As far as footpeg location, I sat on a Nightster and couldn't even hit the rear brake pedal without lifting my foot off the peg. The pegs on the XR1200 felt just about right to me.

Thanks.
