All well in good if you are really getting the good stuff, but alas if the guy in front of you pumps 87 and you hit the 91/93 button, how much of your 2.5 gal is really the higher octane ?
I try to use 89 in my 2008 Nightster and it seems be be happy. No spark knock and after all isn't that what the octane rating is all about.
This subject has been hashed over in many of the forums and I have come to believe that unless you are riding in the 100+ degree temps, 89 will do just fine.

Guess we have the 'older type pumps' out here in the boondocks where I live.
Each type/grade of fuel at the station I use most of the time has it's own hose. The different grades don't share the same hose....
I run hi-test in my '09 Night. Chevron when I can get it. That means 93 in Texas and a lot of other states...only 91 if I find myself back in CA again thogh
You can say that all you want,I ran fuel for a long time, yes you can get it in high octane but why do you think it's higher octane? Not only mixture but they use stuff they couldn't use for premium,I ran fuel farms with millions of gallons of fuel,oh & EPA certified.
