I am installing my new RSD Vintage bars and am doing internal wiring. I have seen a few posts on pulling the wires out of the two harnesses but have not seen one that applies to the type of plug on the nightster. I unplugged the connectors and now it looks like the connector itself is two pieces, but I can't get them seperated. Anybody have any ideas? Oh and they don't look like the Deutsch connectors with the red/orange rubber deal.

Without pictures I may not be any help, but if you look in the end of the connector you'll see two little holes that look like a "D". You need to put a little hook in there and pull that plastic part out until you hear a click. It does not come out fully so do not force it. After that you need to stick a little pin in the small holes next to each wire. Stick the pin in and pull the corresponding wire out at the same time. If you need to use any force to pull the wire then you haven't disengaged it properly because it should just pull right out.
If you plan on putting the connectors back on, make sure you make a little colour wiring diagram for which wire goes where in the connector BEFORE you take the wires out.
If you are installing the 12 vintage bars, then do like I did last month and simply buy the HD extended wiring harness kit......It comes with 60" wires already attached to new switches, complete with new male/female molex plugs and pins.....the kit makes it painless and fast....no soldering.
edited to include:
If you are installing the 12" vintage bars you will discover they will spin in the riser clamps. Prevent that by apply two 1" wide strips of drywall sanding cloth inside riser clamps....simply wrap the sanding cloth around bars and cut to legnth that prevents overlap, then use scotch tape to hold in place while you install and tighten riser clamp.....you will need to order at least +4 inch throttle/idle cables(+6 is better looks wise) and a +10 inch long clutch cable....If you order brake hose from magnum shielding, you want stock legnth lower hose in designer style, with a 24" long upper hose that uses 0 degree banjo fitting also in designer style.
Trust me on the clutch cable length...it needs to be at least +10 due to the extreme angle of the bars.....
PM me with you email and I will send pic of bars installed on my scoot.

Well just to let everyone know 2007 up Harley's do not use Deutcsh connectors anymore, they use Molex connectors. So if you do a search of molex connectors on this forum someone has a great picture and write up on how to dissasemble and reassemble them. PEACE OUT
Man Oinker02, just got off the phone with with Harley and they act like they have no idea what I am talking about when I asked if they have HD extended wiring harness kit.
go to home depot and just get some wire that is the same thickness. cut the wires and soder the extensions on once you get them thru the bars just make sure you mark them with using tick marks with a sharpie e.g 1 mark orange wire, 2 marks orange w/white, 3 marks blue wire... etc. its very easy and very cheap. make sure you get some shrink wrap as well to cover the soders
