Got a pair of the Red 1157's from AutoZone for like $17. Have yet to try them out over the standard red bulb in the smoked lens.

those bulbs are ok, but they only shine back with only a small portion of the tail lens lit up red.

these on the other hand..... i got them in my old civic wagon, and they make the ENTIRE tail light light up like a normal bulb, but a bit redder, same brightness, and faster. put it in my Nightster tail light, broke it though, but before i did, it lit up that tail light nicely!

YES!!
superbrightleds.com
Check out tho automitive section and the 24 bulb (1157) bulbs. Get the wide angle ones if u get them, I got the narrow and they are brighter, but you really need to be DIRECTLY behind to see the big difference.

Agreed. I just installed these and the are just OK. Red color over pink with the standard red bulb, but not much brighter, and when adding brake only kicks it up a slight notch. Not tons like I was hoping. Plus, it has a narrow beam that does not fill the lens.

Seems as if the wide beam, 360 degree types are the way to go. Like these: http://superbrightleds.com/specs/1157-x24.htm

I might have a bucket of no-go's to sell at the end of this experiment...Kind of a biker yard sale of misfit stuff...

I went to v-leds.com. They are only 11 bucks a pair and work fine. Not as bright as some of the others, but I have no problems.

I have the 1157R's in the smoked lenses & they look great. But have not found yellow. Jam strait shows yellow, but everyone seems to be out of stock.

I found that my regular bulbs were brighter than the leds from autozone,it's the way the stock bulbs hit the reflectors

I have a set from auto zone that I removed from my bike. I didn't like the led look and they weren't bright enough for me. If anybody wants them drop me a line

I get my bulbs from the hd dealer for $1.70 which is good from the dealer. I have smoked lenses. The bulbs I get look almost black they are such a dark red. When they light up I get a good red color.

I've got the Jam Strait red LED bulbs from Autozone.
I like them, still working since 2007.
