Where can I find out the factory specifications of a 1975 XLCH? I want to know dry weight, gross weight, wheelbase, BHP, torque, compression, fuel consumption. etc.
In the mid 70s, I had a 1972 XLCH that I bought from a buddy who had chopped it. I sold it in 1979 to a little guy who never successfully got it kicked over when he was considering the purchase. He gave me a wad of cash, I started it up for him, and off he went. For all I know he rode 5 blocks down the street, stalled it and pushed it all the way home. I saw it one time several years and two owners later. Man, that was a pretty bike....
why would you want to kick your bike! did it do something wrong?
LOL, I did kick it over (literally) once. I'd put one of the first aftermarket electronic ignitions (Prestolite) on the Ch, and it made starting much easier. About 2 days after the warranty was up on the ignition, it crapped out. I was headin' into work one cold morning and worked up a sweat trying to get the thing started. It'd pop and then nothing. Finally got mad and hauled off and gave it the boot on the gas tank. Over it went. I picked it up, got in the van and went to work. Put the points back on when I got home.
