Spend $30 and get the "Ride Like a Pro V" video. My wife and I got that after we completed the Rider's Edge/MSF.
If you are going to do parking lot practice, do it with purpose-this video is outstanding.
we run through the exercises about every 2 months. On the street, I think you get lulled into thinking you are getting experience, but you are not using all of the techniques that you might need in a low speed situation.
We can make U turns in either direction on an absolute dime in a very small area thanks to practicing the techniques in the video, and his friction zone exercises are priceless.
good luck!

I took it out for the first time last night after the MSF course and wouldn't you know I put it in a ditch. Was trying to do a u turn in a dead end at the end of our road and let off the clutch a little too much, and I made the mistake of looking where I didn't want to go insted of where I wanted to go. Lucky for me it was soft dirt and grass so it didn't damage the bike just my ego. Had to call a tow truck to help me get it out because the incline was too much for me to push it back up. The guy asked me where I wanted it towed to, I laughed and told him I just wanted it out of the ditch so I could ride some more. Lesson learned from it, I'm going to invest in the video and hit areas with level ground all around me to work on those u-turns. Even that little mishap couldn't take away the joy I had for riding my bike for the first time. Wife thinks I'm crazy, put my ride in the ditch and can't quit smiling
Glad the bike is ok, as far as the ego, **** happens. I dumped mine once picking my daughter up at the school bus stop... embarrased the hell out of my daughter.
Have fun!
oh yea, you need the video......he will show you how to dip the bike before making a u-turn to get into a proper counter-weight position. when you start the u-turn, you are looking all the way back, almost 180 degrees to where you want to go, and never take your eyes off that position.
it takes a great deal of practice to gain the confidence of operating the bike in the friction zone with your head cranked around, but it works like a charm. Once you get it, your confidence on the bike will soar, and you will be able to do u-turns in a very small radius..
