I just purchase a 2006 1200c. I am trying to find a way to mount the base decal and see alot of options. I am wondering if anyone uses any of the ones online or has any suggestions
I also have a 2006 1200 C. went to J&P cycles, got a "Texas" license plate/inspection sticker plate. Is about 2X 3 1/2, heavy chromed. had to trim my DOD sticker a small bit. Mounted it to an exixting bolt on the front of the right side cylinder head. Works great, and the MPs are ok with it.
oops. you'd think being in the military I would know my right from my left. I mounted the license tag plate on the front of the LEFT cylinder (jug), using an existing bolt already there. Sorry for the screw-up.
I got a piece of Apprx. 3"X7" stainless steel and I bent it to fit next to the front brake caliper. I drilled two holes in it so that the front brake caliper bolts would hold it on. If you are really interested in this set-up, ping me off list and I will take some better measurements and pics. This set-up is clean and as far as I'm concerned, much better than the most.
I made a plate to fit on the L/S fender support from acft grade aluminum sheet. I cut and formed the mounting tab to conform to the kink in the fender support. I then polished the hell out of it and removed the rear fender bolt and trapped it between the fender and the fork.
If you would like I can make a pattern and try to get it posted as a sticky for all to use.
