A few RacingJake mods on my 01 1200C
I replaced the oem 1200 jugs and W cams with NRHS 1250 10.5-1 kit and 536 cams. Already running SE heads so I installed Goodson Beehive spring kit so she can run at 7K. Did some cam clearance around the lifter boss'es just incase I go with bigger cams when I upgrade to stage II heads next year. I'd figure my compression would drop some with the 536 cams but it didn't. With the W's I had 200 psi and with the 536's I have 210 psi so that was a win win for me.
Did some head port and manifold cleanup for a smooth flow and relocated my horn to just below the oil filter. Used some plastic fittings and hose and made a external breather to keep excess oil out of the cylinders as seen in the 2nd pic and it vent's right above my chain and works good as an oiler.
Installed some 5 degree cup's and will be going with some 3 degree tree's to move my trail from 6 inches now back to the 4 inch range one of these day's. That's alot better for me cause I don't have to cut/weld the neck. The 2 issues I had was the tank hitting the top tree pinch bolt and the fork stop plate didn't sit flush on the bottom tree but a little grinding took care of it. I running 6" extended tubes so I can make them flush with the top tree for that chopper look or move them up 4 inches for that low look at the track.
Still playing with the advance slope of the Twin Tec and jetting on the HSR 42 carb but a few weeks ago she ran 8.07 at 86 mph in the 1/8 with my 250 lb butt on board. With some more tuning she'll be in the 7's.
What I like is the roll on power in 5th gear, give her some gas and before you know it she running 115 mph. Sure in the heck surprize this kid in a Mustang the other day who was passing everybody in sight. When he pulled back over I just rolled by over 105 mph and give him a funny look then slowed back down to 75 mph. He thought he was AJ Foyt until he notice me knocking on his window. Was 2 up with the wife and he never passed me again for some reason.
She can lift the front wheel in 1st and 2nd gear just by twisiting the throttle and not touching the clutch. Can't wait until better heads and a exhaust goes on cause she's a blast to ride around now.

My 1250 build was the best mod I ever did to my 883. I lowered my fork tubes about 1.5 inches to help control front wheel lift. Now I can choose when I want tp pull up the front.
For those that are more familiar with 1/4 mile times, multiplying the ET by 1.557 and the MPH by 1.24-ish will get you close.
I did that years ago and never took it off to cut the excess metal off.

Question for you: when you install the 5* cups and the new triple clamp you mentioned in conjunction with your extended forks, wouldn't that / doesn't that put an undue amount of stress on the neck area of the frame? Sorry for the noob-type question but I am at an impasse where to go next with my Sporty, and this might be a direction I'd consider. Thanks!
PS: 8.07 at 86 is close to a 12.56 at 110; a nice balance of ET and MPH!
