Dumb?
Do bikes have to have the emissions tested every two years in Maryland like the cars? I have looked but I can't find any information on this.
A little good information.
I just checked with the dealer and my 1200 Custom is in wooooohoooooo. However it will not be ready until later, still waiting on some options I ordered. Probably got the bike in then figured out they needed to order the chrome covers. I swear they are a bunch of morons.
We have emissions testing in NJ for cars, trucks, etc., but not for bikes. Not sure about Maryland, but since emissions is a federal thing for the most part, I doubt you have it for bikes either.
If you have a car, then you know that Maryland's sniff inspection means some ***** takes your $14 and then jumps into your car and runs it on a set of rollers to "properly evaluate" the exhaust. I had a six-speed Corvette and I was not about to let this jerk-nod get behind the wheel of my drive. He decided it was too low to run onto the rollers and waivered me on by.
Now imagine some dink wanting to climb aboard your ride and trying to keep it on those stupid rollers. If I had an old junker, it'd be entertainment just to watch that. Thankfully, no, the Not-So-Free State of Maryland doesn't play that silly game with bikes. But I'm sure they'll eventually figure a way to get the 14 bucks without doing the inspection.
In the state where I live there are no inspections of any kind for any type of vehicle.
No equipment checks, no emissions checks, or anything else.
Each year they send you the registration form with the annual fee. You send them the money, along with proof of at least liability insurance, and they send you a new 'sticker' good for the next 12 months.
I figured as much but I was not sure on the emissions. I figured these jerks would want their money anyway they could get it. I wonder if it would pass after a stage 1 and new pipes?
I just got a call that they are going to start on my bike Thursday (putting it together). They were waiting on the color matching covers and said it will take about 6-8 weeks to get in. I told the salesman to go ahead and put it together and I will pick up the covers when they come in. The weird thing was they said it would take about six hours to get it setup but it probably will not be ready until next week. Lets see they are going to start it on Thursday and it takes six hours but it will not be ready until next week. That makes no sense to me. Blows the hell out of my weekend plans.
Something wrong with that bunch, Gunner. No doubt they're busy as hell this time of the year, but no excuse for this kind of service. I'd put a call into the manager of the place and raise hell!!
