No, you said that in this instance the rider should fill a squirt gun with battery acid and write "I'm a ***" on the driver's car. And, strangely enough, that was AFTER it was known the driver accepted responsibility and that the bike would be repaired at his cost (his personal or his insurance company)

Now, let's just step out of our riding boots and slip the driver's shoes on. We don't know jack about this guy other than he is a co-worker and drove a car at least once in his life. For all we know, this guy doesn't know squat about the cost of bikes or the cost of repair. In fact, I think it's a pretty good bet that he has no idea what motorcycles cost or how expensive repairs can be. To his eye, the only problem was a scuffed fender. If he's a non-rider, how is he to know the amount of damage inflicted to the bike? Why bother with insurance companies and police if it's a $50 (in his mind) part? In a car - car incident with so little damage, I think it'd be perfectly reasonable to keep the situation face to face.

I am intrigued - why are you going back on what you originally said? Are you concerned with impressing people on the internet?

Am I trying to impress, people....LOL, hardly.

Let me see if I can explain this so that even you can understand. My first post, #11, was in response to the previous posts about types of retaliation, and I offered another choice. That is all.

[Quote:Bacon Grease] I would call call the cops and my insurance company.

The bike would be fixed, the guilty party dealt with appropriately (and legally)
I would still be a healthy, uninjured person.

My response to your suggestion of calling the cops-

Well for the 37 years I have been riding, every situation is different. You handle it how you want, but when people purposefully try and circumvent facing up to their responsibility I take it a bit more personally. When a business's mgt is involved it is even more repulsive. Usually calling the cops will get you nothing but an accident report, and quite often the cops don't even show up. If you get caught reacting, thats your fault. And bikes can be fixed, but quite often they are never the same. Then its a fight to try and get some sort of justice. Talk about losing your sanity, patience and health......but you go right ahead and handle it the way you see fit and I'll do the same.
Notice when I am responding to a particular post I use the quote function?
Now notice the portion in red? So I did say that...hmmmm. Did I need to go on a link that to particular situations ie. your bike getting hit?

As far as incidents concerning cars hitting cars or anything likewise, it appears or seems you have very little experience dealing with them. I have found calling the cops to be a joke anymore as they hardly if ever show up. As far as car vs car, I am quite capable of determining when and if a cash payoff at the scene is ok although it is illegal. You do know that, correct?

Hope you're not intrigued anymore.

And as far as appearing to be trying to impress people, your post with the little " " is there for what purpose?

I am certainly impressed by your ability to use the quote function to different results each time as well as your ability to backtrack on your own statements.

I am also impressed by your inaccurate statement regarding the legality of "cash payoffs." I am no lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but, unless I am mistaken, that "cash payoffs" are legal in some areas and under some circumstances How do I know? Well, I've had police officers witness the "cash payoff" and put it in their written report that it occurred and that both parties were satisfied (one cop even counted the money)

Bottom line, GlideRideMike. You said something, quite possibly jest, and when someone called you on it, you recanted and now you're trying to justify yourself.

Now, you can stop trying to impress me with how smart you are. You have satisfied my curiosity in spades.
