Default Shock selection?

So fo for all the questions but getting so hyped about owning my first bike ever and want to go ahead and get everything ready so im comfortable from the get go. These would be for an almost stock 1200 custom and just looking to improve the ride and handling over the stock shock. I see alot of you run 412's but what length would I need? Im 6'1 and around 245 lbs if that helps, I have a 33" inseam. If you need any more info please let me know

I had 11.5" on my first XL and went with 12" on the latest bike. I guess it really depends on how you ride and if you ride 2 up a lot.

The stock shocks on an XLC are 11.75" so if you want a lower look, go with 11.5" or shorter, otherwise choose whichever length shock will work best for your weight.

IMO you should go with at least 12" Standard Progressives, maybe the HDs would work better for you.

Wouldnt realy ride 2-up much at all, just maybe every once and a while but not often. So with my weight I should get 12" progressives? How much do hey improve ride and where is the cheapest place to get them?

Road King shocks. They're cheaper, they look good, and it's air ride!

Do they fit with no modifications? What year Kings do i need to find and what do I need to do, very interested especially for a better ride and also like the adjustability of air shocks. How much air do most start off in them?

Just need to make some brackets for the shocks. Do a search on the forum, many have done this mod. I just bought some and going to put them on soon, $40 shipped off ebay.
If you don't have the tools to make a bracket, it won't cost you much to have them made at a weld shop, it will still be considerably less than progressives.

On the swing arm, a plate, and a piece of pipe with a gusset welded to the plate for support.
