Can't help you out yet Randy. I'm fixin' to do the same mod to my 99. Are you using the Ultima tank from Jireh Cycles? I'm still several weeks away from install. Do you have any words of wisdom about the mounting process?

My father made all the changes back in 02 or 03. I dunno any details about it. I sure wish I could get the speedo working though. Thanx for the help.

Yes, the ground looks real good. The lights come on in the speedo, and the digital odo comes on too. I have thought of adding an additional ground. Couldn't hurt, I guess.

Could the speedometer or the speed sensor be broken? Does it has a test mode? Maybe the wiring is fine but the hardware is not working.

Any idea how to find out if it has a test mode? The bike was stored for almost 3 years, and it hasn't worked since. To my knowledge it did work prior to storage. Thank you.

Try rewiring all of it? Have to be a bad connection somewhere. Either that or test the voltage in each wire and make sure each wire has power.

If you have a multimeter, which I assume you do, in addition to checking all electrical connections for the continuity you want, check for unwanted continuity. You may have a fault where the wires are touching each other.

I'm not familiar with that sensor, but in the large diesel generators I deal with, the speed sensor produces a measurable voltage to send the speed signal. You should check to see if your sensor has a voltage and if it changes with engine speed.

Do you have any documentation on what your speedometer looks for in terms of an input? That sensor may need to be adjusted to send a signal strong enough to be picked up by the speedometer.

I apologize for the generality of my tips.
