Should it be difficult to get a test ride at a dealership? I would like to test ride an 883 Sportster, specifically a Low to see how it compares to my current bike, a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750C2. I called my local dealer (Man O' War Harley in Lexington, KY) and they said they had an 883 Custom to demo. I went in the next day and they had "sold the demo that day." They said they would put a used 883L in demo status and call me back when it was ready to ride. That was a week ago.
It shouldn't be hard at all. Just give them a call back to see whether it's available yet and tell them that you've been waiting to hear back from them for a week now.
Yeah, thats more trouble then I would expect. When I go into my local stealer, if you are interested in trying one, they will let you try any bike you want, new or used, demo or not
If they're going to make it this difficult...make sure that after you've tested one and made up your mind as to what you want...you DON'T buy it from that dealer. That'll show 'em!
I know that the dealership I go to all the time will let you ride whatever bike as long as you are have a motorcycle license and all the safety gear like gloves jacket glasses and helmet (freaking michigan helmet laws) but they are more than happy to let people test ride. If they don't let you.... Find another dealer!
