Maybe this time you had 2 too many. Ever think of that?

Ok people...I said I had a beer. That means one (1). One bottle of beer, not one bottle of whiskey. And after I finished it I sat around BSing for about 45 minutes. So lets not turn this thread into something it's not.

I'm thinkin' the same. I'm sure I left it in 1st. It's my bad to assume it would be the way I left it. BTW, I can try and start my bike in gear without pulling the clutch all day long...nothing will happen.
Just found ur site and joined. Looks good. I am 67yrs old male veteran member pgr, dav, vva. I ride as much as i can(5back surgies).Still on 2 wheels so far.Happy 2 b here
some tool messed with ur bike is all....and yes you can start off in 4th gear, my dad was on a bike trip and his bike got stuck in 5th....he rode all the way home like that....
I agree with every body else though. Some jackass was probably screwin with your bike. And with that being said, that would be the only reason I wouldn't mind having one of the security systems put on it.
i was hoping someone would say this has happened before and it has nothing to do with the beer or someone touching the bike while you were not looking.
yesterday i was in forth approaching a stop light, thought lowered to 1st but gear pedal seemed soft. normally when i lower to any gear i feel the click. while on the light stopped i tried to check if i can go to neutral but no luck. as the light turned green i move and found i was in high gear and then i was able to lower fine. so for a moment while i was stopped i could not change the gear and the gear pedal would not click down. i think i even tried going to the highest just so i can force going to 1st to begin with.
Glad 2 hear i am not the only one who does things like that. I blame iton old age(67)
When I was first learning to ride on my Kawi 500 I pulled into a gas station...clicked all the way down to 1st gear when I was turning in. Found out what happens when you let out the clutch in 1st while moving too fast. Rear wheel locked up for a split second, and let out a nice "bark". I didnt lose control or drop it, but I was alittle embarrassed.
Unless my clutch lever is in, my bike will only start in neutral. I don't leave a stop unless I know I'm in first gear. It's bad for all parts of the bike. (drivetrain). Iv'e done it in second gear, but never fourth. Keep it in the wind, HOLLYWOOD.........................
Might not have even been a tool that messed with it.....could have been a friend pullin a prank. (I guess that classifies that friend as a tool though huh?)
