Using Stock Bulb With Laydown Tail Light Lense
I had heard that bulb would be too close to the plastic in the laydown lense, which might lead to melting, etc..
I purchased my laydown lense a month or so ago off the internet, I believe the company was Sorgy's or something like that, and just left the stock bulb installed.
Put over 2,000 miles on the bike since the installation, made a number of 200 to 300 miles runs, and like yesterday, quite a few miles were in temperatures well over 100 degrees.
In summary, no problem whatever with using the stock bulb with the laydown lense. No melting, no anything. I checked yesterday during the hottest part of the day, and my lense was no hotter to the touch than the 'stock lenses' on other bikes.
I prefer the stock bulb to the LED units, as you get full top, bottom, and side illumination, and at night every little bit helps.
