With 14K on her '06 883 Low, my wife's bike is just about due for a rear tire. This bike has been lowered further with Progressive shocks, and she does not ride it very aggressively.
The OEM Dunlop has held up very well, but I'm wondering if Sportster owners have found something better. Any suggestions?
At 14K on the stock Dunflop, she must be a very conservative rider, 10-11K seems to be typical. I recommend you check out the Metzler ME880 tires, that's all I run anymore.
On my first 2 rear Dunlops I got between 10 & 11K miles. Switched to the Metz 880's and I've been through 2 at 16K miles per tire. They handle much better than the Dunlops wet or dry and are better handeling over bridge grating and don't tend to follow tar snakes. They are a bit more than the Dunlop, but at 50% better mileage and fewer changes, they're worth it IMO.
I went with the Metzler's after the wearing two sets of stockers out, and now I'm trying a set of Avon Venoms now. I got about the same amount of milage out of the Metz as the Dunlops, about 10-12K each time, but I ride rather aggressive.
