I recently bought my first bike an 08 nighster! Its my first bike ever and was curious about horepower and torque numbers for a stock 1200. I have added a set of V&H shortshots,Screamin Eagle Heavy breather ans had it reflashed. With these mods how much of an increase will I see? I just added the heavy breather and man I could feel thr throttle response and it felt like a little more Horsepower too but just curious if anyone knows numbers on these things! I'm a wrenchhead on cars and am big into modding them but I don't know **** on bikes yet.
welcome the the forum madmax. this site is a great resource so don't be afraid of the search option. it's bailed me out a few times. to answer your questions, the stock numbers on horse power and torque can be found on harley's website or by googlin' it. however, the nice warm hearted welcoming guy i am saved you a little time and searched this forum for you (thanks old fender guy).........
"The XL Evolution 1200 engine is rated at 70 peak horsepower at 6000 rpm and 79 ft. lbs. of torque at 3500 rpm, an increase of more than 15 percent over the previous XL Evolution 1200 engine."
with that said, the only real way to tell what you're kickin out now is to get it dyno'd.
Yeah I plan on having mine dyno'd soon! My dealer just got one in! I want to add a SE module, high perf coil, wires, plugs, and do some engine upgrades while I'm gone overseas. I've been thinking of going with a bigger bore size like the 1250cc kit from zippers or s&s but I'm not sure it's worth all the money! I might just get some headwork done and do a throttlebody but who knows yet. Its hard to believe my little 1200 makes as much power as my friends do with there 96 CU INch engines but awesome to know I can keep up!
